goodbyes and girls

so as i've mentioned before, one of baltimore's greatest is about to leave us for the clearer skies of colorado. (at least she's going someplace we all want to visit!) saturday night we celebrated 3 years of mollie, complete with some hilarious video footage put together by michael. i'm pretty sure mollie got the point she's going to be missed.here's a pic of my first girlfriend in charm city. good luck in your new digs, molls!after leaving the farewell gathering in fells point, i caught up with a bunch of girlfriends back in federal hill. i'm not even going to try to name everyone pictured. just know they're all fabulous.

cross street chicas

there are a lot of really wonderful things about my neighborhood... cross street market is definitely one of them. on any given day, one can find fresh flowers, fresh produce, fresh fish, and lots of (fresh?) poeple. friday happy hours are especially crowded, but you're always sure to run into someone you haven't seen in a while. it's a great place to catch up with other locals. pictured are anna, laurel and me.

wine & cheese 2

sunday morning the party is still going. we had a little late night dancing in the living room (hope the neighbors didn't mind). paige and ed were gettin' down, though ed clearly wants no evidence of the event. too bad! note the tea lights and tulips... nice touch.being fabulous hostesses is hard work! christina and i relax after a very successful party. we'll be ready for round 4 next year.two dude rollers, bryan and matt, get cozy in the living room. even dudes can look cute when they're sleeping. awe...

wine & cheese 1

the third annual wine & cheese party was a raging success this year (though we really missed lily!) we probably have enough food and beverage left over to throw another party. i really wish i had a picture of susanne cooking up a storm. stuffed mushrooms and fried goat cheese balls over spinach? YUM. thanks to everyone that came. you made it a special night. to those that couldn't make it, you were missed.

we'll do this in two parts... saturday and sunday. these pics are from the saturday bunch.

in the first pic we have drew, christy, anna, jason, and mckenzie. these girls and their dates are really lovely people. jason has an awesome australian accent.

next we have a group of balmer ladies: megan, daley, tiffany, and christina. if they ask where you went to school, they mean high school (not college) because that's important here.

this third pic is the first group of friends i ever made here: michael, mike, mollie, rachel, and allison. mollie is about to leave our lovely city for some colorado fresh air. can't say i blame her, but b'more will never be the same!

last, but not least, my dear friend farhan. during our first few weeks of life in charm city, we used to sit on the floor and share a tv tray while eating dinner. we've come a long way.

crue cuts

i got to see the stones earlier this month (thanks bryan!) which was like watching history happen. my mouth hit the floor the second they walked on stage and it stayed there for the first 3 songs. a) they're legends, b) they still sound great, c) they put on a really excellent show. last night at the motley crue concert (er, thanks bryan?) my mouth hit the floor for a number of other reasons. i would have taken pictures, but it's strictly forbidden. the lady at the security check point almost took my precious camera away! she let me through after i swore off photography. parts of the show were great (tommy lee playing drums while suspended in air), parts were slightly uncomfortable (i kept my innocent eyes closed), overall it was the most rockin' rock concert i've ever seen... or likely ever will see.

be my valentine

what's a single girl to do on the most commercialized date night of the year? hang out with her other fabulous girlfriends, of course. i think last night was more fun than any quazi-romantic valentines of the past (clearly i've yet to meet the right guy). cyndi lauper knew what she was talking about.

we had the pleasure of running into dr. tony at metropolitan cafe. he's a regular at metro... they've even named one of the brunch dishes after him. gotta love your local celebs.

we ended the night at ropewalk, pretending to know how to play pool... christina is actually pretty good! the rest of us just smile... and wear pashminas? happy valentines day!

snow days

saturday i made it to my first terps game (thanks, john!) which was great fun, even though duke won. m-a-r-y-l-a-n-d... go maryland! really reminded me of going to tech games as a kid with my granddad. by the time we walked out of the game, the snow was really coming down. i love how snow breeds camaraderie. everyone goes out wearing comfy clothes (snow flake long johns for me) and it's almost like christmas.
team dude rollers (the soon to be champion sobo football team) discussed top secret plays at neighborhood bar crazy lil's. we're clearly a very intimidating bunch.

making snow angels is always a good idea, even at 2am. tumbling down the hill and potentially tearing your acl so you can't walk home is never a good idea. right bryan? let's hope team dude rollers doesn't have to find a new quarterback...

blogging begins

after four years without a camera, my dad decided it was high time i went digital (thanks, dad!) ... and pictures are more fun when you share. thus, a blog is born. and, it just so happens that my mouth is open in most pics... i'm not out of control, i'm just laughing.

friends... beware. you're likely to show up on here from time to time. no one wants to pics of the same girl over and over again! plus, you're likely the reason i laugh. consider this a tribute to your friendship.

ha!
